"What is that movie? A movie with a 'snowy' setting during the holidays is such a cliche." This was my reaction when I first saw Frozen in theaters. I only wanted to watch it because it is a Disney film. I've always been a fan of Disney. I love how they build up the story, the characters, and of course the animation. But as I grew up, I kinda felt this "moving along" feeling with Disney films. Yes, I still watch them but I don't wait for them in the theaters. I don't do countdowns or whatever. But everything has changed after I watched Frozen.

I know it's been how many months since Frozen was shown in theaters but it's never too late for a post, right? Or should i say a confession.
YES. I am an Artist. I've always been since I was a child. Another particular reason why i fell in love with Frozen. As I learned more about the movie and everything behind it, i fell in love more and more. I was inspired everyday. I knew what I really wanted to be in the future. I knew that someday I want to be a Disney Animator.
My number one inspiration is Bobby Pontillas. He's a Disney animator. I saw his work randomly on a blog. I got this strange feeling that he might a Filipino like me. I searched for him on the internet. I learned about his blogs, interviews and everything related to that. He is a Filipino also, like me. From there, I had high hopes that someday my dreams would come true. It gave a big impact in my life. It made me think what Elsa said, "I never knew what I was capable of."

Just like Elsa, maybe i just have to let it go. I doubted myself not just once but every time i see a better artist. I thought, "Why can't I be like them? What is wrong with me? Am I not good enough?" Everything has changed ever since I watched Frozen. Maybe I was never too old for Disney. I draw Elsa every time I see a piece of paper lying down. Here are just of the few sketches I made.
my first Elsa quick sketch |
Left - irritated Elsa, my favorite expression. Right - the smirky Elsa, my favorite expression as well. seriously everything Elsa is driving me crazy. |
Another quick sketch of Elsa I did this while I was bothering my classmate while she was finishing her fashion sketches AND it was also during class. Hehe. |
I tried recreating Disney's original concept art of Elsa because i've been trying to study Disney's art. |
How about Anna, you say? Of course, I wouldn't forget about Arendelle's princess.
Honestly, Anna's outcome turned out beautifuller not fuller (LOL) than i expected. Watercolor and Colored Pencils on Paper |
AND of course, nothing could be more beautiful than two sisters together. Laid down hair just made it beautifuller.
Mermaid Sisters of Arandelle Adobe Photoshop CS6 Thanks to Brittney Lee's color palette! I love her artworks as well! |
Frozen made me think of my thoughts clearly. Elsa's reserved but fearless character is what made me to go for it. I might as well let it go because she inspired me.
